MDC Alliance vice chairman, Job Sikhala, who is reportedly battling ill health, will have to wait a little longer on his fight for freedom after Justice Erica Ndewere reserved judgement on his bail application.
Sikhala arrested August 21, and facing charges of inciting public violence, is reportedly unwell and in urgent need of medical care his lawyers have said.
Harrison Nkomo told the media today that, Sikhala still had challenges with his health, with swollen feet, telling the media that his private doctor has not had access to him in prison.
There were however plans for Sikhala’s private doctor to attend to him Monday afternoon.
“He still has challenges with his health, he has swollen feet and sadly his private doctor has had no access to him in prison,” said Nkomo
Nkomo said they had put their case before justice Ndewere and were now waiting for the ruling which is expected anytime this week.
“We have been trying to get Job out of custody for quite some time now, I am glad to announce that consistent with our wish, today the High Court granted us the opportunity to argue the bail appeal in respect of his case against the State, we argued before Justice Ndewere who apparently is reserving ruling consider the cases that he was referred to and also the submissions so once she is ready with her judgement she indicated that she will advise us, our bail application is an urgent matter and she appreciates that” said Nkomo.
