Enhancing literary appreciation in Zimbabwe and Africa



On Saturday 23rd April, UpInSmoke Poetry Corner celebrated its 3rd Year Anniversary under the theme “Enhancing literary appreciation through creative writing and performance”.  UnInSmoke Poetry Corner is a weekly column in our sister publication – The Standard Newspaper. The celebrations were held at the trendy art gallery – First Floor Gallery in Harare.

Celebrations started off with a panel discussion comprising Professor Fred Zindi, Patience Musandirire ,Sanelisiwe Tsakani Muyambo, Nhire Mutimbanepasi,  Batsirai Chigama, Stephen Chigorimbo moderated by Valeri Kabov.


Thereafter, the country’s best-spoken word artists collaborated with musicians to deliver their pieces which were socio – political, economic, sexual, mental health and tradition inspired.

Also, in attendance was the prolific author Virgina Phiri, Afri Kera Arts Trust Founder and Director Soukaina Edom, award winning bassist and musician – Edith WeUtonga.
